About Conrad Rosenbrock
Polymath Engineer & Systems Architect

Bridging fundamental physics, mathematical rigor, embedded silicon, distributed cloud backends, and user sovereignty to build transformative real-world systems.

The Continuum of First-Principles Problem Solving

I am an endlessly curious scientist and inventor that loves to dabble in everything while also diving as deeply as necessary into things that are truly transformative. I want the things I create to make a real and measurable difference to health and happiness of people and the planet. Open-mindedness to the point of heresy! I'm willing to consider anything and everything as long as it is rigorous and reproducible.

My career trajectory began in computational quantum mechanics and mathematical physics. At Brigham Young University, I conducted graduate and doctoral research exploring atomic crystal structures, cluster expansion theory, and quantum density functional simulations. This led me to create a startup trying to crack the materials genome by using AI to approximate the potential energy surfaces of alloys. That was the first of many.

Over the past two decades, I have intentionally worked across every layer of tech. I was never content to just use a layer above/below as a blackbox. Coupled with an exceptionally rare short-term memory and quick-to-learn talent, startups were an environment where I could truly thrive while zipping up and down the stack of technologies to create truly complex and transformative technologies.

With the exceptional "speed-up" provided by agentic coding and research tools, it is a truly exciting time to be building technologies that can change the world in positive ways. More than ever before, we have the opportunity to be wise and thoughtful in the problems we wish to solve and make sure that what we create has a meaningful, lasting impact. We can create literally anything we set our minds to, so what will we choose to do?

Education & Graduate Research

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Physics

Brigham Young University

Focus on computational materials physics, sparse Bayesian learning (bcs), and algorithmic group-theoretic enumeration of derivative crystal structures (polya). Collaborated extensively with AFLOWlib consortium (Duke University) generating automated ab-initio quantum electronic databases. Used machine-learned interatomic potentials and environment representations to simulate alloy phase diagrams and grain boundary energy.

Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Physics & Mathematics

Brigham Young University

Rigorous dual grounding in theoretical mechanics, electromagnetism, quantum electrodynamics, abstract algebra, and statistical computing. Started my machine-learning journey applying neural networks to time-dependent density functional theory simulations.

Interdisciplinary Crafts, Nature & Acoustic Artistry

😂 This heading was created by the Agent and I had to keep it; what a funny way to introduce a section on hobbies...

🎹

Music (Piano & Organ)

Longtime pianist and classical organist. I enjoy the sheer power of the organ and how it physically moves the body. And the speed, precision and mathematical complexity of classical piano.

🌱

Off-Grid Homestead & Regenerative Agriculture

Passionate about living close to natural biological ecosystems on an off-grid homestead. I dabble in regenerative agriculture principles, soil biome restoration, and permaculture; blended with lightweight DIY sensor telemetry, solar/battery monitoring, and microclimate automation.

🏔️

Hiking

The breathtaking views, natural environments, and fresh air.

Engineering Philosophy & Operating Values

How I approach high-uncertainty technical ventures and collaborative architectural leadership.

🔬

First-Principles Rigor

Rejecting cargo-cult engineering and surface heuristics. Every complex challenge is decomposed to physical, mathematical, and algorithmic ground truth to build rigorous and durable solutions.

⚡

End-to-End Ownership

Bridging the entire execution pipeline from mathematical modeling and firmware registers to cloud backends, infrastructure failover, regulatory filings, and user experience.

🛡️

User Agency & Human Craft

Technology should empower human capability and protect privacy rather than exploit attention. Software and hardware should feel like finely tuned acoustic instruments: robust, responsive, and trustworthy.
